Emmaville had the electricity connected on 17th October 1951. They had a festival to celebrate, including a street parade, fashion parades and sporting events etc. They auctioned lanterns to raise money for the hospital, and buried lanterns together with a time capsule, which is now buried underneath a house. Shops started selling electrical goods like kettles, irons and radios etc.
